“If the artist has outer and inner eyes for nature, nature rewards him by giving him inspiration.”

Wassily Kandinsky
The Seaside at Palavas by Gustave Courbet

For many Artists, there is often a particular painting, artist or subject that originally sparked their interest in Art, that will inspire them to start painting.

Inspiration can often be an elusive thing.

Sometimes thought of as a gift from a higher place, infused with romantic notions of the tortured, yet, inspired poet or painter.

For the practicing artist however, whilst still elusive, it is still a very real thing.

For some it is the life force of their creative practice, whilst for others, it is something that must be confronted and challenged.

This page is dedicated to inspiration in its entirety with insight from practicing artists on what inspiration means for them.

New artists experiences will be added accordingly throughout the course of this blog….

“Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working”

Pablo Picasso
